1 Peter 5:10, “And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.”
No one goes through life without suffering. To be human in a fallen world is to suffer. Suffering, however, takes on a different light in the shadow of the cross:
1. We can take some comfort in the fact that God Himself is no stranger to suffering in that His Son Jesus became fully human. In so doing, Jesus experienced the normal course of human suffering, and in the cross, He experienced terrible suffering.
2. God is not indifferent to the suffering of the world. He cares for those who are suffering, and the cross is the means by which He will set the world right in the end.
3. A cross focused life is one of suffering, but the body of Christ goes through this together. So, Christians can rejoice in their suffering.
