Acts 13:46-49, “And Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, “It was necessary that the word of God be spoken first to you. Since you thrust it aside and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles. For so the Lord has commanded us, saying, “‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.'” And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed. And the word of the Lord was spreading throughout the whole region.”
A local church’s typical direction, if left alone, is not outward to the lost, but inward on itself. Therefore, it is important for local churches, both big and small, to be focused on the Great Commission, which includes both international and local missions.
We should to consider the various mediums available to us for communicating the message of Christ —tracts, internet, personal evangelism, etc.
The key is not merely being busy, but actually doing the work of sharing the gospel with lost people. We need to be trained up and and even take the leap and go on mission trips, keeping in mind that these are for gospel efforts, not merely vacations.
The key to building a Christ Commissioning church is actually having a Great Commission focus shared throughout. And when we lovingly pursue the Great Commission, it creates a Christ Commission Church.
