Romans 1:16-17, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.””
I have stressed this in a previous devotion, we need to preach the Gospel to ourselves more than others! Because at the heart of the Gospel, is the person and work of Jesus Christ! The truth is, in Adam, we are all children of wrath and deserve eternal death for the sin that is in us.
No matter how hard we try, we can never pay back our sin debt because only perfect obedience is acceptable to God and even one sin deserves the eternal wrath of God. So to be in God’s presence, we have to become righteous, and that righteousness must come outside of the law.
Jesus has become our righteousness, and all who believe have received His righteousness in place of our own unrighteousness. This reality is the gospel, and every child of God, through the Spirit’s regenerating work, turns from their own deeds and false righteousness toward the Savior in faith. But the gospel
doesn’t become old news from here, it is the only news that matters!
