Psalm 27:4, “One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.

The Psalmist tells us that God is beautiful. Therefore, I believe that everything He does is beautiful. We also see that His beauty is closely related to His glory, but they are not the same. In a similar way to how everything God does is glorious because God does everything for His own glory, likewise, everything He does is beautiful because He is beautiful.

We know that everything God created was good, which has a close connection to beauty. Man who is made in the image of God reflects His beauty, but God’s beauty is seen supremely in the person and work of Christ. Christ is beautiful in His person as the second person of the Trinity who came to serve and give His life as a ransom for many.

In addition, we learn that from Christ’s incarnation to His atonement to the consummation of His kingdom – He displays the beauty of God for those with the eyes of faith to see it. And for this reason we worship, and behold the beauty of our God!
