Trusting God Despite Confusion
Jerry Bridges once said, “We must learn to trust when we don’t understand!” But for many of us, learning to trust God has been, or is, a slow and difficult process. It is often easy to trust God in the light, but in the dark, not so much. Sure, we know that God is in control. But do we trust and believe that God is completely sovereign? Do we trust that He is infinitely wise? Or that He is perfect in love? Do you think He is worthy of your trust?
I hope you can confidently answer yes, YES! to each of these questions. A great reminder of this truth is found in 2 Timothy 2:13, “If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.” Whether we truly trust or not, God is still sovereign, infinitely wise, perfect in love, and trust worthy!
Whatever our lot, we can trust that all things are a part of God’s plan for us. Therefore, we can have the full assurance that God acts for our own good and for His own glory. We can trust God in all areas of our life. Nothing is outside of His control. No one can hinder His purpose. And so, even though we don’t always understand the how or the why of the good or bed, we can learn to trust God even in the darkness – because He will shine upon us and through us.
