The doctrine of the Trinity should bring us delight! And this week, let’s consider the second truth that should satisfy us in God’s truth – God the Son.

The unity within the Trinity is uniquely beautiful. The Bible is the story of how God the Father sends the Son and the Holy Spirit to save humanity by being God’s
own power and presence in person. Jesus had a purpose, which He intentionally fulfilled. And in the last days of His earthly life, Jesus “set out for Jerusalem,” where He knew He would be killed (Luke 9:51), in order to fulfil God’s plan of saving the lost.

Jesus put it this way in Luke 19:10: “The Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” In Matthew 9, once again Jesus was criticized for “eating with tax collectors and sinners” (verse 11), and once again Jesus responded by stating His mission: “I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners” (verse 13). Jesus’ goal was to save, and He did that!

This teaches us the Son’s willingness and humility to please the Father. And in this we should be greatly comforted, especially with our current circumstances. Let us therefore continue to pray for one another, our community, our country, and for the larger affairs that affect us.
